With the Washington State Ferry system operating out of Anacortes, it is easy to hop on a ferry and shop in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island for the day or take a bike tour of Lopez Island. The ferries also journey to Victoria, B.C., so spend the day shopping in Old Towne, visiting the world-famous Butchart Gardens or picnicking in Beacon Hill Park.
